Use clear labels:
Small things can get lost or confused when they are piled up outside. Writing what is inside a box with a big marker helps the team know what to grab. If a box is full of heavy books or glass, write that on the top in big letters. This prevents accidents and ensures fragile items do not break and leave a mess. Simple signs make the work go faster.
Keep paths clear and open:
Ensure there is a wide and flat path from your pile to the street. Move any bikes, potted plants, or garden hoses out of the way before the truck arrives. If the workers have to climb over things, the pickup will take much longer. A clear path means they can use dollies or carts to move heavy furniture without hitting your walls. It keeps your property safe.
Stack things neatly:
A messy pile is hard to pick up and can even fall over in the wind. Place the heaviest and largest items at the bottom of the stack to create a solid base. Put lighter boxes or bags on top so the pile stays steady. Try to keep the height at a safe level so nothing rolls into the street. A neat stack looks better for your neighbors too.
